Word is such an in-depth application that I am not going to go through every little detail of the usage of this application. I am going to show common usages and fixes along with some tips and shortcuts.

If you are getting error messages try the following:
  1. Close Word 97.
  2. Click Start -> Run
  3. Type "Winword /a" (do not type the quotation marks. There is a space between the "d" in Winword and the "/" symbol).
  4. Click "OK" twice.
  5. If you do not get the error message in this mode then follow the steps listed on this page:"Deleting the Normal.dot (or Global Template) for Microsoft Word" for the fix. If this does not work then
  6. You will want to follow the directions in Uninstalling Microsoft Word to uninstall Word 97. Then
  7. Follow the steps for a Complete installation of Microsoft Office Word.
