With Microsoft Office 97, you will find there are 4 separate package types:

Premium Edition (Retail Version) - This version comes standard with MS Word 97, MS Excel 97, MS Outlook 97,  MS Access 97, MS Powerpoint 97,  Bookshelf Basics, Photo Editor, Value Pack

Professional Edition (OEM or Original Equipment Manufacturer version) - This version comes standard with MS Word 97, MS Excel 97, MS Outlook 97,  MS Access 97, MS Powerpoint 97,  Bookshelf Basics, Photo Editor, Value Pack

Standard Edition (Retail Version) - This version comes standard with MS Word 97, MS Excel 97, MS Outlook 97, Publisher 97, Photo Editor, Small Business Financial Manager, Streets Plus Auto Map

Small Business Edition (OEM or Original Equipment Manufacturer version) - This version comes standard with MS Word 97, MS Excel 97, MS Outlook 97, Publisher 97, Photo Editor, Small Business Financial Manager, Streets Plus Auto Map

You will notice that Premium (PREM) and Professional (PRO) are the same. This is correct! The difference is that Premium is the software you buy from a vendor or a store. The Professionl version is the version included with the purchase of a new computer system (OEM). The same applies to the Standard (STD) and  Small Business Edition (SBE); the Standard is the vendor or store-bought version and SBE is OEM.

To make this mix even more interesting there is a SECOND version of Office 97... Office 97.2! This is ONLY an OEM version and has the following software:

Office 97.2 (OEM or Original Equipment Manufacturer) - Word 97 SR-1, Excel SR-1, Outlook 98, Publisher 98, Expedia Streets and Trips, Small Business Manager 98

These are by no means a comprehensive list with every last component listed (like what version of Internet Explorer) but, it does show the main application components.
