SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE TO FIND YOUR VERSION OF WINDOWS THAT MATCHES YOUR VERSION OF EXCEL

These are the steps to fix Excel without Uninstalling and Reinstalling
 
Windows 98
 
Win98 - Excel 97
  1. Click Start -> Find -> Files or Folders
  2. In the "Named" box type "excel.pip" (don't type the quotation marks) 
  3. Click Edit -> Select All
  4. Push the "delete" key on your keyboard. This will delete the excel.pip file(s) which might be corrupted.
  5. Close the Find window
  6. Clcik Start -> Run
  7. Type "regedit" in the "Open" box and click OK
  8. This takes you to the registry editor. Follow these direction EXACTLY! If you do not see a folder matching one listed then skip it and go on.
  9. Delete the following keys:
    Hkey_current_user\software\Microsoft\office\8.0\excel
    Hkey_local_machine\software\Microsoft\office\8.0\excel
  10. Click Start -> Programs -> Microsoft Excel
  11. Insert Microsoft OfficeDisk 1 when prompted
  12. Follow the directions and restart your system when everything is finished
  13. Try the Excel application again to see if it continues to give errors
Win98 - Excel 2000
  1. Click Start -> Find -> Files or Folders
  2. In the box labeled "Named"  type "excel.pip" (don't type the quotation marks) 
  3. Click Edit -> Select All
  4. Push the "delete" key on your keyboard. This will delete the excel.pip file(s) which might be corrupted.
  5. Close the Search window
  6. Click Start -> Run
  7. Type "regedit" in the "Open" box and click OK
  8. This takes you to the registry editor. Follow these direction EXACTLY! If you do not see a folder matching one listed then skip it and go on.
  9. Delete the following keys:
    Hkey_current_user\software\Microsoft\office\9.0\excel
    Hkey_local_machine\software\Microsoft\office\9.0\excel
  10. Click Start -> Programs -> Microsoft Excel
  11. Insert Microsoft OfficeDisk 1 when prompted
  12. Follow the directions and restart your system when everything is finished
  13. Try the Excel application again to see if it continues to give errors
Win98 - Excel 2002
 
  1. Click Start -> Find -> Files or Folders

Windows Millennium
WinME - Excel 97
  1. Click Start -> Search -> For Files or Folders
  2. In the box labeled "SEarch for Files or Folders Named"  type "excel.pip" (don't type the quotation marks) 
  3. Click Edit -> Select All
  4. Push the "delete" key on your keyboard. This will delete the excel.pip file(s) which might be corrupted.
  5. Close the Search window
  6. Click Start -> Run
  7. Type "regedit" in the "Open" box and click OK
  8. This takes you to the registry editor. Follow these direction EXACTLY! If you do not see a folder matching one listed then skip it and go on.
  9. Delete the following keys:
