Before Installation of Microsoft Office 97 make sure your system meets minimum requirements:
A Typical Installation
You will begin the installation upgrade in One of Two ways, by 1) Autorun or 2) by Browsing the CD and selecting the setup.exe executable file. My instructions will be using 1) Autorunm for the Professional (PRO) version of Microsoft Office 97.
- Insert the first disk, CD 1.
- It should start the setup window automatically, or "Autorun"
- Type in your Name, Company Name (if any), and Product ID when instructed. If you don't have a product ID, try this and see if it works - 01297-OEM-0123456
- Accept the default folder for installation. The file path is normally C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office
- For installation type select "Typical"
- Follow the prompts. Reboot when the system asks you to do so.
- Restart your system at the conclusion of the installation to make sure that all updates to your files and registry are completed correctly.
